Plasma Vs Lcd Hdtv - Get the Plasma and Hdtv Facts Before You Decide!

The "Plasma vs Lcd Hdtv" deliberate upon has proponents on both sides, and let's be serious here. Both will give you a great picture. But if you are a discriminating shopper, like myself, you want to get the absolute best inherent video available. While both have their merits, when considering Lcd vs Plasma Hdtv, you indubitably need to know some basic Hdtv facts about them both so you can make an informed decision.

Plasma Vs Lcd Hdtv - Get the Plasma and Hdtv Facts Before You Decide!

Plasma televisions use neon, xenon and helium glasses in the middle of a layer of two glass panels. When the set is turned on, the gases are heated, and red, blue and green phosphors produce colors that are shown in tiny units called pixels.

It sounds very technical, but indubitably carries over some of the old problems with Crt screens of the past. Phosphor-based televisions can still get "burn-in" over time. This happens when a static image is continuously shown on the screen, say in a gaming application. This is one negative about Plasma Hdtv sets.

Comparing Plasma vs Lcd Hdtv on this front, we find that Lcd Hdtv uses layers of polarized material to produce images. One layer has a special polymer that holds liquid crystals. Electrical current is passed straight through or caught to display colors and pictures.

Since there are no phosphors to heat, Lcd Hdtv is cooler, and has no burn-in issues, so requires less electricity to run, and no radiation is emitted from the screen.

As far as screen size when comparing Lcd vs Plasma Hdtv, Plasma is the clear winner. Ranging up to 65 inches, if you like size, Plasma is the way to go. Lcd Tv sets ordinarily run up to 52 inches. Because of the technology in the sets, Plasma sets weigh more.

As far as appearance in the Plasma vs Lcd Hdtv debate, static pictures are far more strict on Lcd Hdtv sets, whereas Plasma Hdtv sets produce best tantalizing images and colors.

If you live in high altitudes, stop reading these Hdtv facts and run get an Lcd Hdtv. Plasma sets emit a humming sound, like neon signs, in high altitudes.

As far as your Light bill is concerned, Plasma sets want about twice the energy, since each pixel is a Light source. Lcd Hdtv sets use fluorescent backLighting, a much less costly "fuel".

Conclusion: Now that you know the Hdtv facts in the Plasma vs Lcd Hdtv debate, it is up to you to pick a set that has the features you need. Plasma sets are bigger, heavier, want more electricity, may burn in after years of use and "hum" at high altitudes, but offer best tantalizing images. Lcd Hdtv sets are Lighter, use less electricity, have no high altitude issues, have a smaller "top of the range" size, will not "burn in" but have a marginally diminished video picture.

Whichever way you go, you will end up with a crisp, clean photo employing the latest technology. Happy viewing!

HDMI to DVI for Quality Video Transmission
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the only industry-standard interface for transmitting uncompressed digital data. HDMI cables are intended for use with a wide range of everyday electronic components, such as computers and a home theater system’s screen. HDMI provides video, especially at high resolutions, and renders small, high-contrast details, such as text, in high quality. DVI (Digital Visual Interface) is a video-interface standard that provides quality transmissions on digital display devices such as flat-panel LCD computer displays and digital projectors. Audio will need to be transmitted through a separate audio cable(s) or through a fiber-optic (Toslink) cable as the DVI connector of this cable is not fitted for audio capability.

For Use with Computers, Blu-Ray Players, and Game Consoles
This cable offers optimal support for resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 and is intended to connect computers and other source components with HDMI outputs--such as Blu-Ray players or Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 game consoles--to DVI-equipped televisions or monitors.

Turn Your Computer into a Home-Theater Center
The AmazonBasics HDMI to DVI Adapter Cable is intended to connect computers with DVI connections--such as home-theater PCs, Mac minis, and some laptops--to an HDMI-equipped HDTV, projector, or other display device.

For office professionals, you can use this cable to create quality presentations using your projector. For home users, the cable will help you turn your computer into a virtual home-entertainment center, so you can watch all your computer-based media on your home-theater screen.

Gold-Plated Connectors for Superior Conductivity

Paper Thin Leaf Indoor HDTV Antenna - Made in the USA!

Paper Thin Leaf Indoor HDTV Antenna - Made in the USA! Overview The patent pending Leaf indoor television antenna is a paper thin antenna that connects to your TV and mounts on the wall, behind a picture, or just about anywhere to enable you to receive free over-the-air broadcasts.Because the majority of television antennas on the market today are unsightly and tend to be an "eye-sore", design aesthetics were a primary driver in the design of the Leaf antenna. The antenna is black on one side and white on the other providing a variety of installation options.A surprising amount of study and engineering work went into the design of the Leaf TV antenna. It wasn't until one of our engineers decided to convert from cable television to over-the-air broadcasting that we realized that there were no high performance antennas on the market. This motivated the patent pending design of the new paper-thin antenna. The Leaf antenna was designed by experienced antenna engineers who have been designing antennas for the US military for years. Cost was also a primary driving factor in the design of the Leaf indoor antenna. After researching current antennas on the market, it became clear that the leading brands were significantly over priced. This drove us to develop a patent pending process that allowed us to develop a high performance antenna with minimal manufacturing cost. This allowed us to keep the price of the antenna to a minimum and pass these savings on to the consumer. Most importantly, we are proud to say that our antennas are designed and manufactured in the USA! Viewing distance on Lcd Tvs - seeing Clearly on a Lcd Tv

Viewing distance on Lcd Tvs - seeing Clearly on a Lcd Tv

If you have ever tried to Watch an Lcd television, or if you have tried to look at an Lcd computer monitor, you may observation that the photograph does not have the same potential from every viewing angle. An Lcd television is not quite the same as a photograph tube television and there are some rules you need to effect in order to get the maximum viewing enjoyment from your Lcd television.

Viewing distance on Lcd Tvs - seeing Clearly on a Lcd Tv

One of the terms you should become customary with when it comes to determining the length you should sit from your Lcd television is aspect ratio. Aspect ratio is basically the size of the image on the screen and how the television creates the image. The suitable photograph tube televisions use an aspect percentage of 4:3 and for years this was more than adequate for everyone. The higher your aspect ratio the better potential your picture. Hd televisions like Lcd televisions use a higher aspect ratio to get a better picture. Typically the aspect ratio for an Lcd television is 16:9. This means that the photograph is clearer even when you are sitting closer to the screen. This becomes leading to understand later in this discussion.

First and leading on getting the best viewing sense out of your Lcd television is where your eyes should be in relation to the screen. With a photograph tube you can look at the screen from practically any angle and still see the picture. But with an Lcd television you need to have your eyes even with the middle of the screen in order to view the photograph on the screen properly. Go ahead and try seeing at your Lcd television from separate angles and you will see the difference. The ideal location for your eyes is right in the middle of the screen.

What about the length you should be seated from the screen in order to see the photograph clearly? This is where the insight of aspect percentage becomes important. Because Lcd televisions have a higher aspect ratio their photograph is much clearer even when you are sitting close to the screen. Many people use the rule of two arm's lengths to decide how far they should sit from their Lcd television. What that means is you place yourself two arm's lengths from the town of the screen. Of course if you have a larger screen then you may want to Move yourself back a bit additional just to make sure you are able to see the whole screen. But the breathtaking thing about Lcd televisions is that you can sit as close as you want and you will still be able to see the photograph clearly. That is the benefit of Lcd televisions using high definition.

720p Vs 1080i Hdtv

720p Vs 1080i Hdtv

Is 720p vs 1080i worth being concerned about? Yes and no. If you're a consumer finding for a new Tv, you can happily ignore the 720p vs 1080i consider because every Tv which is described as Hdtv or Hdtv Ready is required to preserve both formats.

720p Vs 1080i Hdtv

720p Vs 1080i Hdtv

720p Vs 1080i Hdtv

720p Vs 1080i Hdtv

720p Vs 1080i Hdtv

Note: You should be aware though that lots of Tvs which preserve 1080i have fewer than 1080 lines and so scale the 1080 signal down. That's not a huge issue as even scaled down 1080i is far ahead of a regular Ntsc signal. It is worth bearing in mind that more high-priced Hdtvs tend to have best scalers than economy ones, and this may be an issue.

However, for broadcasters it's a live issue. Should they broadcast 1080 lines of interlaced video or 720 lines of progressive scan? They could just broadcast two signals, one in each format, but that would use up a huge chunk of bandwidth and be hugely high-priced for very microscopic gain.

To riposte the question, it's prominent to understand the incompatibility in the middle of 720p vs 1080i. A 720p signal is made up of 720 horizontal lines. Each frame is displayed in its entirety on-screen for 1/30th of a second. This is know as progressive scan (hence the 'p')The potential is like Watching 30 photographic images a second on Tv. A 1080i signal comprises 1080 horizontal lines but all the lines are not displayed on-screen simultaneously. Instead, they are interlaced (hence the 'i'), ie every other lines is displayed for 1/60th of a second and then the alternate lines are displayed for 1/60th of a second. So, the frame rate is still 30 frames per second, but each frame is split into two fields, which your brain then puts together subconsciously.

Most of the time interlacing works fine, but for fast spicy images, such as sports like baseball and hockey it can cause problems which manifest themselves as a 'stepping' succeed on-screen. Progressive scan signals don't have this question and so are best grand to sports.

Espn puts it like this: 'Progressive scan technology produces best images for the fast spicy orientation of sports television. Naturally put, with 104 mph fastballs in baseball and 120 mph shots on goal in hockey, the line-by-line basis of progressive scan technology best captures the possible fast operation of sports. For Espn, progressive scan technology makes excellent sense.'

Bottom line? For us, as consumers 720p vs 1080i is not a consider worth worrying about, so you can relax and focus on all the other criteria on your list when you buy your next Hdtv.
